The G502 Proteus Core does not come with a software disc and instead, the Logitech Gaming Software must be downloaded from the Logitech Support website. The software required to modify the onboard mouse configuration includes macro commands and sensitivity settings. Logitech gaming software is also used for other Logitech gaming products, and settings for each device can be accessed from within the software control panel. Logitech SetPoints used for other Logitech non-gaming products will not recognize Logitech gaming products. The main menu has a large image of the G502 mouse. The menu navigation is located at the bottom and above the large mouse image. Clicking the glowing mouse buttons on the graphic will go to the macro customization. On the right, clicking the gear pointer icon will go to the cursor settings. This submenu combines mouse button commands and cursor settings.
If one of the mouse buttons is assigned the G-Shift command, the G-Shift assignments will be available. G-Shift works like a keyboard modifier for the mouse. When holding the specified G-Shift button, other mouse buttons will have their shifted commands instead.
The mouse commands available in onboard mode are much more limited than those available in local game detection mode.

Cursor settings can be general, or by selecting the “per-configuration” checkbox, can be specified for each game profile.
The G502 Proteus Core is the first Logitech mouse with adaptive surface adjustment. The three surface presets included are the factory default, the G240 Fabric Gaming Trackpad, and the G440 Hardened Gaming Trackpad.
New surface profiles can be added and then adjusted.

Then follow the on-screen instructions that instruct you to hold the left mouse button and move the mouse repeatedly across the surface. The on-screen tachometer will indicate whether the mouse is being moved too fast or too slow for surface calibration. When done, the mouse button can be released and the window can be exited.

Clicking the gear icon in the bottom right corner brings up additional settings.
Additional settings exclusive to G502 are changing sleep mode with blue LED, snap angle and check for new updates.
Additional profile settings are to define fallback profiles and create hotkeys to rotate profiles for profiles belonging to the same game.
