Ready to tame the horse

Contents

To tame a wild horse, you need to be Beginner 5 in the “Training” skill line. You can level up quickly by riding your donkey or horse around. You can buy a donkey for a small price at any barn, or you can get a donkey through the beginner quests in Velia.

  • Solid sugar – produce it yourself (recommended) or buy it from the market at a much higher cost
  • Lanyards – buy from any barn

You can get them from the chef (David Finto) inside Velia’s Inn or a sales guy (Vangelas) standing by the door inside the Inn at Heidel. Other cooking NPCs around the world also sell these items. Combine 10 raw sugar with 1 mineral water to make 1 sugar cube (more if your processing level is high and/or with good people). the first time you have 6 blocks and 6 capture ropes in your inventory. As you get better, you’ll only need a single rope for most horses, but you’ll always need 4 ounces of sugar per horse. Most guides – and that steady manager at Glish – say to use 3 ounces of sugar, but we found a higher success rate with 4 ounces.

Horse taming steps

Here is the step-by-step sequence for taming:

  • Put your rope and sugar cubes in your hot rod
  • Carefully approach the horse, but don’t get too close, or it will get scared
  • Aim at the horse, tap on the number you put the leash on and a small red cross will appear. Your character will start swinging the stick and will now move more slowly.
  • Left click when you are ready to throw the line, then press spacebar when the meter hits the “good” zone (like a mini fishing game)
  • When your lasso is around the horse, you need to move yourself towards the horse by pressing W while the horse’s front hoof is on the ground.
  • If the horse is standing up on its hind legs, you will need to press “Space” and then keep the meter in the “won” zone by repeatedly tapping the Space bar until the timer runs out. Don’t stop until the timer is at 0 and the mini-game turns off the screen!
  • Keep moving forward after the horse stops breeding
  • When you get close enough, you’ll see a circular menu appear above the horse’s head. Now you can interact with the horse. You can try to bond now, or you can feed the sugar cubes.
  • Feed your horse consecutive sugar cubes (we recommend 4), monitor the cooldown. Give it a few seconds between each time before you give the next one.
  • Carefully go to the side of the horse and press R to ride. The horse will either accept you, or kick you in the face. ???? If you get kicked, you have to start over.

Sugar-free method: You may have heard that you can tame horses without sugar. This is true, but different methods work for different people, and we’ve noticed that some mysterious methods don’t work after a patch…who knows. What we can say with certainty is that it is possible to tame a horse by simply standing near the horse and waiting for at least 45 seconds before attempting to ride. Some “talks” work for some people, such as a horse raising its legs or lowering its head slowly. We had mixed results. ????Read more: Where is Michael strahan on gma Once your horse is tamed, it’s yours – BUT you must register it at an available stable. You can ride it back to the barn, or it will follow you on your other horse. Go slow, because it won’t go fast. You will give it a name and then discover its sex when it enters the cage. That’s it! Now, let’s talk about where to find horses in the wild!

    Wild Horse Location

You can find 8 different types of horses at Levels 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (see exactly which ones here) in the locations shown below. When a horse is captured by the player, a new horse will respawn 2 hours later. Some areas are more popular than others. For example, the Marni Cave Road is right near the road between Keplan and Calpheon, so it’s easy for anyone to grab a horse and take it to one of those stables. It’s best to try horses in more “hidden” locations such as Bandit’s Den Byway, Ancient Stone Chamber and south of Olvia on the slopes. The three locations south of Glish are also good.

    Process

Since we have become addicted to finding and taming horses, Sofianna and I have developed some circuits that seem to work quite well: 1) Heidel/Olvia/Velia (Balenos and Northern Serendia) 2) Southern Serendia 3) Area around Calpheon and 4) Mediah North. The first circuit is the easiest because there are more locations and they are closer together. The Calpheon circuit takes the longest, but it’s great for leveling the horse you’re riding. Taming horses in Mediah is not very convenient, but I have added a very good circuit if I get all the horses in other areas.

    Individual location

Below are individual location maps, along with screenshots of the horses in position for reference. This can help pinpoint the exact location of the horses when you’re running through dense bushes.
