dbpower t20 projector how to connect to phone
Whether you’re watching the latest movies or your favorite football team, having a “big screen” can make all the difference. Of course, you can buy the biggest and newest flat screen TV, but then you could end up paying thousands of dollars. Plus, the space needed for a large TV isn’t always available. Not to mention, very few TVs are over ~75 inches in size. And a few can be as expensive as a lightly used car! This is why more than ever people are making the smart move of investing in projectors instead of TVs. Projectors offer much more versatility and can be used in many situations. However, just like TV, not all of them are created equal. There are hundreds of different products, models, and brands to choose from, all with different specifications and requirements. Needless to say, it can get pretty confusing, pretty quickly. If that’s the case, you’ve probably heard of the new DBPOWER T20 Mini Projector. It’s a budget-friendly, 1080p high-definition projector that seems to offer a lot of value for its low price point. We were lucky enough to get one for ourselves to test it out, peruse its features, and give an in-depth review of its pros and cons. DRPOWER was kind enough to send us a free projector in exchange for our honest and thorough analysis of their latest release. Without further ado, let’s get started.

Contents
The DBPOWER T20 mini projector reached our hands in just two days thanks to Amazon Prime. When we opened the box, we were delighted to find that the projector was securely packaged and came with a lengthy instruction manual, quick start guide and a full box of accessories. These accessories include a remote control, HDMI cable, 3.5mm AUX to RCA adapter and a small screw used to adjust the angle when laying it flat.
The first look
The projector itself is quite compact, weighing just over 2 lbs and measuring 7 1/4 inches wide, 6 inches deep, and 3 inches high. Located at the top are the focus and key-shaped dials and a series of buttons. These include the power, menu, power, and exit buttons, as well as a navigation plate with an “OK” button in the middle. On the back is the VGA input, with all other inputs located on the left side. Other inputs include HDMI, AV, Aux, USB-in, a 5v USB charging port, and a memory card reader. The right side has only one input for the power cable. On the front, you’ll find the lens and IR remote sensor placed on both the front and back. There are ventilation holes throughout with internal cooling fans to ensure that the internal temperature never becomes problematic. In addition, there are four rubber feet that help keep it stable and balanced at all times.
Establish
Installing and configuring the DBPOWER T20 Mini Projector for the first time is really easy. Ideally, you’ll want to project it onto a blank white wall or projector screen in a dark room. Also, you will get the clearest picture if you place it between 32 and 176 inches from the wall/screen. Once you find a good spot for it, you’ll want to manually adjust the focus and keystone so it looks clear and vibrant. This usually only takes a few seconds – just rotate the dial until you can see clearly. From here, you can access settings, choose your source, and get a little more familiar with the interface. The settings aren’t too in-depth, but they allow you to tweak the display on the screen, perform software updates, and restore to factory settings.
Broadcast content
Once you’ve powered on and browsed a bit, you’re probably ready to play your content. The great thing is that the T20 allows you to play media from a variety of sources for a variety of situations. Basically, if your media can be connected via HDMI, RCA or SD memory card, you should have no problem. However, smartphone compatibility is a bit poor. This is because you are required to use an adapter (Chromecast or AudioCast) which must be purchased separately. Alternatively, you can use an MHL to HDMI adapter (Android) or a light to HDMI adapter (iPhone). We tried playing files through a USB flash drive, directly via an HDMI cable with the laptop, and also used the supplied RCA cable to play some “old fashioned” video games. Both inputs work equally well and we didn’t have any problems with the configuration. Just plug in your device(s) and select source. Playing 1080p high-definition content is our favorite. Clarity is excellent and enjoyable to watch on such a large screen – just make sure your focus is shot correctly. Using an RCA cable, we hooked up an old original Nintendo NES and absolutely loved it. It’s exciting to see such a classic form of entertainment brought to such a big picture scale. There didn’t seem to be any lag or latency issues with any of the input formats we used.Still images on an SD card look great. Bright colors with great clarity. No complaints. It’s a cool feature to have when you want to show friends and/or family photos from your latest trip. What better way on a big screen?
Sound
Built into the T20 is its own speaker. Honestly, it’s nothing extraordinary, but it does the job. Don’t expect great stereo sound, it delivers acceptable sound without distortion. However, there’s barely any bass or anything fancy about it. We strongly recommend using the assist inputs and attaching your own speakers if you feel they are lacking.
Cooling
As with any projector, an efficient and effective cooling system is required to ensure proper operation. Heat can be a big problem for any electronic device, especially one equipped with bright and powerful lights. Luckily, DBPOWER has included a unique dual-tube cooling system that properly dissipates heat and “flushes” it out to multiple ventilation holes. Now there’s a small downside to this, the fans are constantly spinning so there’s a bit of background noise generated, but it’s not a big deal. You can hardly notice them, especially when you have a movie or video game playing.
Longevity
The lights in the DBPOWER T20 are rated to have an impressive lifespan of 50,000 hours. This is an incredibly generous amount of lifespan, which equates to about 5 and a half years of continuous playtime. In fact, 99% of users won’t even need to change the lights, but if you do, a few years to a decade will pass. Warranty with lifetime customer support. They cover parts, workmanship, and the return process should you have any problems with the T20 in the future. They can be reached by email, through Amazon or their website.
Defect
While the T20 has a host of features for your enjoyment, it’s important to point out a few downsides. Wireless connection is not available because the projector does not have a Bluetooth feature. Any connection to a smartphone or tablet must be made through an adapter that must be purchased separately. It’s nice to see these adapters included, but they’re pretty cheap and easy to buy. It is also worth mentioning that the power cable is extremely short. You may need to invest in an extension cord as it is only a few feet long. That’s not a big deal, as most people have one lying around.
Last word
Overall, we are big fans of the DBPOWER T20 Mini Projector. It has a lot going for it, with many desirable features at an affordable price point. Great brightness, very easy to use interface, and self-explanatory setup. You don’t need any fancy equipment to pair it, everything you need is included – just connect your favorite content via HDMI, VGA or RCA and you’re good to go. . The product has its quirks. To say the least amount of value packed in such a compact and sleek design. We feel that the T20 is suitable for most situations and is a great choice for children and families. However, if you need something a little more expertly equipped, you will definitely have to spend a bit more. in something a bit more fancy like the Epson 5040ube or the Optoma HD27.
