Win the gap from Tennessee
The film’s writer and director, Craig Brewer, lives in Memphis and hopes to screen the film in Tennessee. However, in the end, Footloose the remake was shot in the southern city of Covington Georgia, Hollywood, perhaps because of the state’s generous movie tax credits. Austin, executive director of the Association for the Future of Film and Television in Tennessee, is quoted as saying, “What’s that old saying about death by a thousand cuts? Losing ‘Footloose’ to Georgia was a disaster. “Georgia’s ever-expanding film production industry also attracted another film that many assumed was coming to Tennessee: Down, starring Robert Duvall, Bill Murray and Sissy Spacek – was also filmed in Covington, Ga. earlier in 2009. True to the original version, the final dance scene of 2011 takes place after Ren and the gang. Fight the intentions of some local bad guys about trouble. They then go to the dance, where Ren throws confetti into a shredder and shouts, “Let’s dance!” … To the tune of “Footloose” by Blake Shelton. This latest version is choreographed more tightly and a bit more “sharp” than its predecessor.
