why do people hate country music
Chris Stapleton, Billboard’s Top Country Singer of 2018 (Pictured above) At some point in your life, you may have heard someone say, “Yes, I like all kinds of music EXCEPT for music. Country.” Now that claim is a bit hypocritical, since they don’t really like all genres of music. So why exclude the country? It is one of America’s most popular genres, featuring country-specific television shows, an element found in movie soundtracks (e.g., A Star Is Born) and inspiring people (i.e. Mason Ramsey aka “Yodeling Walmart Kid”). So why all the backlash? Read: why people hate country music Read more: Why are they called ao dai barriers One reason is its lyrical content. It seems that in most country songs the vocals are all about the same story; love a small town while also having the vehicles they drive, especially trucks, and referring to alcoholic beverages, whether it’s whiskey, beer, etc. What’s interesting about these lyrics is an artist trying to reconnect with the public, singing songs about life in a small community and doing typical work. The only thing the two artists have in common is probably their love of drinking and partying. It should be noted that the “public” in this case is primarily a white country audience living in the South and Midwest of the United States. People living in urban/suburban areas can’t really relate to these lyrics as they can’t relate to the country lifestyle. After all, it’s called country music because it originates in rural America, another reason country music is unpopular with listeners is the vocals. Country artists share a southern accent when they sing, and it can be unpleasant to hear at times. Because this voice is so overused in this genre of music, singers without a natural voice need to fake it to stay true to the country brand. As a result, this yodel-like tune did not resonate well with some listeners. Also, people who don’t usually listen to country music won’t get used to its sound. So, letting a genre of artists sing with exaggerated voices, combined with lyrics that have nothing to do with them can easily turn people against one another. They may not be related to the lyrics, but they may like the accompanying music. Even more surprising, there are people who secretly like to listen to country, but only select certain songs. Not all water is bad, it’s just that most of them seem lacking in quality. I mean, who hasn’t seen “Before He Cheats” or “Take Me Home, Country Roads” before? As the saying goes, “Beauty is seen in the eyes of the beholder.” Post by:Selena ChoyRead more: | Top Q&A
